This journey through medical school has certainly been fierce. William entered the program at Wake Forest in July of 2010. He has already completed First and Second years which is mostly all classroom based. William took his first (and probably most difficult) board exam in March and scored well! He was officially a third year student in April 2012 and began "life on the wards" as they call it. Internal Medicine was three months but most other rotations are 1 month long (except for surgery which is 2 months). Here is a look at the timeline of third year for William:
August 13-Auguest 24 : Vacation!!!! :)
September 2012: Psychiatry
October 2012: Neurology
November 2012: OBGYN
December 2012: Emergency Medicine
December 2012: Starts Surgery Rotation 1 week before Christmas break
January 2013-February 2013: Finishes surgery rotation
March 2013-April 2013: Pediatrics
After these core rotations William becomes a 4th year!!! He will have a couple of more required rotations but 4th year will mostly be electives that he chooses. :) 4th year of course is when he will begin applying to residency programs, finishing up his board exams, etc. We will keep you posted as we move closer to the end!
