Easter At Home

William and I were so excited to go home for Easter. Friday I was off work and William did not have class so we got up early and went to see William's family first. We hung out Friday and got some errands done, like getting William's car inspected, we visited his grandma in the nursing home, and then we went to his other grandparents' house to visit. We all went out for dinner at cracker barrel and went back and hung out there. We spent the night at his grandparents' house and woke up early saturday morning and went back to his parents' house. We had a great visit but of course I forgot to snap pictures. Here's a picture of us with William's parents and grandparents at the wedding:

Saturday when we got to Garner we ran some more errands with my mom and my grandma met us at our house later that afternoon. We all went out to dinner and we went to see the new Madea movie. It was Great!! We all laughed a lot and really enjoyed it. The next morning we got up and went to church and William and my mom sang How Great Thou Art together and it was SOOO good. Here's a small clip:

After church we went to my grandma's house for lunch with my mom's family and we took some Easter pictures outside:

We had a great lunch and had fun spending time with everyone but we were sad when we had to leave to come back to Winston. William had class yesterday and this is his last full week of lectures! He has another exam next week and then he has to go back to Elizabeth city for TWO WEEKS this time. Yuck. But once he gets back he will be able to enjoy a little free time while he does research this summer. Hope everyone had a great Easter!

New Bedrooms

Our retail woes are over! William has both of his rings now, and might I add that they're gorgeous, and now we have both of our bedrooms set....almost! They delivered the rest of the furniture wednesday morning and then I spent Thursday getting everything situated. We finally snapped some pictures but then we left for Easter break so I'm just getting around to this post now! We have a two bedroom apartment an we have been using the guest room as storage since we moved in. We brought my furniture from my parents' house when we moved in for our master bedroom and this is what it looked like (NOTE--these pictures are not that good because it's hard to get good angles and we don't have all of our lighting set up but here are our attempts) Master Bedroom Before:
Guest Room (with all of our wedding stuff) Before:

We moved all of our old bedroom furniture into the guest bedroom and we bought a new king size bedroom set for our master bedroom...it also came with a new flat screen tv! Here's the new guest room (again, sorry about the lighting and angles)!

New guest room:

New Master Bedroom:

We still have some last minute touches....we need to hang stuff back on the walls in the master bedroom and the guest room needs curtains but it's all coming together. We are so happy to finally be able to say that we have 2 sleepable bedrooms!

Retail is really annoying....

Well, I've been putting off the "after" post of our new furniture in hopes that it would all come together but it seems that it will now be delayed by a few more days. We have had some unfortunate mishaps with the retail world lately and we're really starting to get annoyed. Let's begin with William's wedding band:

About 2 months before our wedding we went and got our wedding bands at JCPennys. We love their jewelry and William got my engagement ring there and we have always been pleased. We ordered our bands and William wanted yellow gold with a row of diamonds going across. They came in in perfect timing, they looked gorgeous, we bought a lifetime care plan, and finally William got to put it on during our ceremony...here's the after picture:

We go on our honeymoon and the ring gets severely damaged....no problem though, we have that lifetime plan. We bring it back to the store when we returned home and then send it off to be fixed. The jeweler suggested that we also purchase an inexpensive stainless steel band with yellow gold (they run about $50) so that William could wear it to the gym and stuff like that and not have to worry about it. So we did and they sent it off to be sized. About 2 weeks passed and they call and say his gold band is back and we can pick it up. We go to the store and instead of a ring there is a refund. It was not fixable. SO they gave us all of our money back so that we could just buy a brand new one. So we did. Then THAT one had to be sent off to be sized. Another week goes by and we get a call that his steel band is in. So we go to the store and instead of his ring there is a manager saying that the woman who sold us the steel band was new and didn't realize that if it's a band with gold over it, it cant be sized...you actually have to order the correct size from the warehouse. Let's just say at this point, I was ready to turn JCPennys OUT. Really? My blood was heated and I was sharing that fact that my husband has not had his wedding band the whole month we've been married. Of course they apologized over and over and ordered the right one and had it shipped to our house for free. Big Deal. I think we deserved a free ring or something, LOL. William's gold band came in yesterday and it is gorgeous. He will definitely protect this one. However, when I got home Friday there was a Fed-Ex note on the door saying the package requires a signature (so I'm sure its the steel band) and they will try delivery 2 more times and if they miss us then we'll have to go pick it up. WHAT was the point of delivery?? LOL

NOW, friday they delivered our new furniture. It is grogeous and it's perfect!!!! HOWEVER, the headboard was damaged so we had to reject it for another one. They are supposed to be delivering it this wednesday so still have not been able to sleep in our new room. If they bring a new one Wednesday, and it's damaged, I might frreeak out on Rooms To Go. LOL

Those are our retail woes for now....I hope to post pictures of everything all nice and set-up Wednesday. We are leaving thursday night after William's test to go home for easter. We can't wait!

Productive Weekend

Warning: Pictureless Post Ahead! William and I are so tired. When you are married to someone in medical school it pretty much dictates how and when you can live your life, lol. We planned our wedding for months, all on the account of his spring break so that we could have a honeymoon, and once it all came and went we jumped back into the swing of everday without blinking. He started a new unit and I went back to working 45 hours a week. Our nights and weekends depend on what he has to study and when his next test is and I work most saturdays so lately my only days off have consisted of post-wedding errands like sitting at the DMV for 5 hours and taking care of name changes at the bank and social security etc...... With all that said (and I hope it doesn't sound like I'm complaining because it's not that we're unhappy or ungrateful it's just tiring) our last "closing" action of the wedding was to use some of our money to buy a new bedroom set. We have a two bedroom apartment and the master bedroom had the furniture in it that I have had since like middle school. The furniture itself is fine but the matresses are killing us. So, we researched different furniture stores and ended up going with Rooms To Go! We got a whole KING size bedroom package (with a TV!) and it is being delivered this friday. My parents came this Saturday afternoon after I got off work and we went out to eat and had a great time catching up and watching a movie. Today (sunday) we woke up and went and ate a great breakfast at cracker barrel. We came back and everyone worked really hard moving things into the guest bedroom )and clearing out all of the wedding memorabilia from the guest room) and now our master is completely empty and waiting on the new furniture. I took before pictures so once I take the after ones I'll post them! We're pretty tired because William had to jump back into studying tonight and I still have some stuff to clean up. It was a very productive weekend and I'm so thankful to my parents for helping us out!

Where in the world Wednesday

These are pictures from Myrtle Beach, SC.

William and I went on a mini trip there a couple of summers ago and we were just talking about how much we want to take a beach trip this coming summer. We obviously just got back from the carribbean a few weeks ago but it's different when it's a cruise and the majority of the time is spent on the ship. It also involved a lot of travel and complication so it would be nice to go to a "local" beach where we can drive and relax. William only has 3 weeks of class left and then he officially becomes a 2nd year med student. He is almost to the burnt out point so he's really ready for summer break! Hopefully we can arange a vacation soon... :)

Wedding Part III-The Reception

Whew! The last part of the wedding story--finally finished 1 day after our 1 month anniversary! Already? WOW! We last left off with my mom and grandma bustling my dress after we took all of our family shots. We headed out to the Dunn Community Center which was about 15 minutes from the Campbell Chapel. Of course, our wonderful photographer grabbed some great detail shots like..... The cake: Special parts of the candy bar including the "love ducks" (William always calls me his love duck so we thought it was only appropriate!) and our special suckers:

Table decorations and flowers:

gifts:
and food:

The DJ announced the whole wedding party and of course the new Mr. and Mrs. Harrison:

We danced our first dance to William's favorite song "Walk Through This World With Me"

and then we had the father/daughter dance and the mother/son dance. We also started the night out with the electric slide:
When I was doing all the wedding planning I was reading all kinds of tips and advice and one of the most repeated tips was to try to sit down and enjoy eating your food at the reception. Well.....we tried. LOL It wasn't very successful but we had about 4 bites and some sparkling apple juice for toasting:

We then cut our cake, which we DID eat and it was delicious! Traditionally we "fed" each other but it was so good that we made sure we had a piece of it!

We did the garter and bouquet toss and William put on a show! I never imagined that he would have done that but he can be a funny boy...
We danced the rest of the night away and exited to sparklers and a stretch limo! We had SUCH a fun time riding in the limo and since our hotel was all the way at the airport we cut through downtown Raleigh and just had a blast!

We hope everyone has enjoyed sharing our wedding story with us! Not only is this a great way to share with anyone who couldn't be there but it's a great way to preserve our memories! We have been married for a month now and we look forward to a lifetime!
